A walk in the woods is always a good way to calm and introspection. While we need to be aware of what is happening in our community, country and world, we need to stop and engage in quiet time to maintain sanity. Thank you for reminding us how therapeutic focusing on nature's beauty can be.
I am thinking about how to reclaim the space of road in front of my house that locals use for funeral processions down to the river for cremation. How can I make that same space a holy procession, a walk for life in the face of death?
I love the idea of honoring the space as a holy procession. My town has a bird sanctuary along a trail, with lots of trees and a few bird houses (a sign that says Bird Sanctuary made by the town). I like the idea of creating a place where birds can hang out, and where people have set aside a space for them. Maybe this could be the starting point.
Beautiful Kassi, my despair is added to by the worlds and finding it increasingly really difficult to cope with either let alone both. I am trying to as you know. Terri Leigh's videos are so hopeful in light of everything. You are right walking in the woods helps to a degree but I'm returning to solitude which is so deafening. It's that I can't handle. But that's changing, things are gradually being put in place. Don't give up Kassi, you sound to have a lovely family and home and I'm envious of the cabin. And your writing is wonderful. Your help in my first poem was what started giving me hope.
Thank you for your kind words Bob! There certainly needs to be a balance between alone time and time with people and community. We need balance to trek forward in wholeness.
This is an amazing, powerful piece, like an exhale, Kassi, raw, grounded, and full of wisdom. That line, “the powerful men in charge don’t take walks,” made me laugh out loud because it’s so true, but also so tragic. I loved the reminder that solitude isn’t weakness, it’s where we reset. And Procession felt like the perfect companion, soft, sacred, and healing with every line. Thank you for this steadying moment in a noisy world. 🕊️❄️🌲
It’s really good to hear this one resonated because I typically steer away from touching on politics. But this was my best attempt at weighing in. Thank you for being a witness in this space. 🤩
My pleasure! You held the balance so well, Kassi, honest but gentle, rooted in truth but still spacious with hope. I think that’s why it resonated so deeply. It’s an honour to be here, witnessing the way you carry light through complexity. 🤩
Your walk sounds like a magical journey! It’s amazing how nature can lead us to unexpected places and offer such peace and clarity.
My poems are often inspired by time spent outdoors. Direct inspiration from the elements.
Keep writing and keep shining 🙂♥️
I agree, more walks in nature!
Your poem reminds me of a silly limerick I just wrote:
Walking on ice without fear
Searching the wood for some deer
I came out of my fog
When rammed by my dog
Landing me right on my rear!
Sounds adventurous!
It’s a true story! 😂

Thanks Sam for weighing in! 🤩
“When everything is urgent, nothing is urgent.”
That's what stuck out to me, too!
Just lovely! That line “when everything is urgent, nothing is urgent…” I made the sticker note on my work monitor.
Thank you Patti! I’m glad this resonated with you today. ☀️
