Make Waves

A Poem

I am here to shake up my status quo, discover who I am 
and forget again. I am here to shed old skin.
Do something new, my comfort level 
a regretful prison. I am here to leave behind sameness, 
defy everyday redundancy
seeing with fresh eyes what a new day could be like. 

Maybe I'll take leaps like a frog or soar like the herons 
in open horizons. Maybe I'll dive in as the dolphins 
breaching azure waves in the distance.
Maybe I will journey as far as the elephant seals,
when migrating—
it’s extraordinary the miles they log.
