There are days when you arrive home after
work with nothing spectacular to note and
then there are days when you pull into
the driveway and step out to find the bare
branched aspen tree in the yard trembling
with hundreds of waxwings.
They have come to feast on serviceberries
leftover from summer. Precise as lightning,
they fly from the top branch of the aspen,
disappear into the backyard, and return with
sweet juice gushing down the backs of their
small throats.
And then, something shifts in another realm.
Wind speaks an invisible warning, and they
are gone into oblivion. Everything is as it once
was. Nothing is left behind, except the smattering
of red stains along the sidewalk.

Something’s are meant just for you to see .. when those moments happen they make me thankful for those moments
Oh the joy of waxwings harvesting berries; I have a poem about the mountain ash and its berries I’ve been working on. Yours is gorgeous 💚💚💚
